19:27(IST)After suffering their second loss in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma felt that his side wasn’t able to put a fighting total against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Three-time champion MI lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their opening game and were handed another defeat on Thursday when SRH pulled off a thrilling last-ball win. Chasing a modest 148, Hyderabad were going good, scoring 73/1 at a stage. However, after a batting collapse, Deepak Hooda’s 32 off 25 balls followed by Billy Stanlake’s boundary off the final delivery guided the hosts home.

19:24(IST)Rohit Sharma has been a key player for Mumbai Indians over the past few years and has played a key role in their success. However, since 2017, the Mumbai skipper has been having an inconsistent run with the bat. He has scored 359 runs at a strike rate of 119.26 in 18 innings averaging only 22.43. He hasn’t scored consecutive 30+ scores in the IPL since the 2017 season. He is without a 30+ score in his last 7 innings. His last 30+ score came against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 season. In the last 7 innings where he hasn’t scored a 30+ score, he has scored only 109 runs averaging 15.57.

19:20(IST)Anushka Sharma was in attendance cheering on for her husband Virat Kohli as the Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Kings XI Punjab to register their first victory in the eleventh season of the IPL. The actress was animated throughout the match and cheered for Kohli. This is not the first time that Anushka has been at the stadium for RCB’s match in Bangalore. She has been a regular visitor in the stands whenever Bangalore play a home game. Even when India plays a home game, Anushka manages to attend a match and cheer for the Indian team. AB De Villiers and Umesh Yadav were the stars of the day for Royal Challengers Bangalore as they beat Kings XI Punjab by four wickets to register their first win of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season at the Chinnaswamy Swamy Stadium in Bangalore on Friday.

19:16(IST)Jason Roy smashed an unbeaten 91 as Delhi Daredevils defeated hosts Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in a last-ball thriller in the Indian Premier League. Opener Roy made a mockery of a listless Mumbai Indians bowling attack as he hammered six fours and as many sixes in his 53 ball knock to help Delhi overhaul the home team’s 194/7 for their first win of the season. It was the third successive loss for MI and they remain without a point after three matches. With 11 needed in the final over, Englishman Roy hammered Mustifizur Rahman for four and a six, before playing out three dot balls. Delhi needed one-run off the final ball and Roy connected it and completed the run to ensure that his side won, with Shreyas Iyer (27 not out) at the other end.

19:11(IST)Sanju Samson starred for Rajasthan Royals as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 19 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. RCB were set a stiff target of 218 by Royals, but didn’t have the kind of start they would have hoped for. RCB lost opener Brendon McCullum (4) just on the fourth ball of the innings, as he was caught by Ben Stokes on the bowling of Krishnappa Gowtham. From there on, skipper Virat Kohli took matters in his hands and started playing his shots right from the word go. Kohli struck a brilliant 57 from 30 balls and put his team in the drivers seat. He was well supported by Quinton de Kock who scored 26 runs from 19 balls. At one stage RCB were cruising 81/1 in eight overs and the target looked within their reach. But right after Kohli’s departure, the team just could not put up a fight any further.

19:07(IST)New Zealand pacer Adam Milne has replaced injured Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins in the Mumbai Indians squad for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Milne has been signed by the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Pat Cummins for the IPL 2018, a media release from the IPL said. Milne has represented New Zealand in 40 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 19 T20 Internationals. He was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier. He will wear jersey no. 20 for the Mumbai Indians, it said. Defending champions Mumbai Indians, who have lost their first three games, will now take on Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Virat Kohli, on April 17 at the Wankhede Stadium.

19:01(IST)Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli admitted to having misread the Chinnaswamy track that turned out to be a batsman’s paradise rather than being a slow turner during their IPL match against Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals defeated RCB in a high-scoring encounter where the winners scored 217 for four and then restricted the home team to 198 for six. “Our thinking today was that the pitch is going to behave slower, but we were surprised because the ball came on to the bat nicely in first innings. We did not think that it was going to be a 200-plus run wicket, but it happened. That’s T20 for you,” Kohli said after the match.

18:56(IST)West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo today heaped praise on India and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli and equated him with legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. “It’s (equation with Virat is) good. Virat actually played under-19 (cricket) with my younger brother Darren and I always tell my brother that Virat is a person he shall look up to, I am not saying that because I am here,” 34-year-old Bravo, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, said. “I actually asked Virat to talk to my brother personally about batting, about cricket. When I see Virat, I see Cristiano Ronaldo of cricket.”

18:51(IST)Stung by three straight defeats, Mumbai Indians’ burly all-rounder Kieron Pollard sought advice from the media, asking if they could help the beleaguered outfit in effecting a turnaround in their fortunes in the Indian Premier League. “Three games in a row, we have lost in the last over. If you guys have any idea to tell us how to get over the line, if it happens again, you guys obviously know a lot of cricket, so, give us an idea of what to do,” Pollard asked scribes on the eve of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai suffered dying-moment defeats in the three games played so far – against Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils.

18:46(IST)For Bikram Sharma, a government servant in the city of Patiala in Punjab and his wife Sandeep Sharma, a boutique owner, life hasn’t been the same since the beginning of 2018. Over the last decade, the couple had devoted most of their time in helping Mayank Markande fulfill his dreams of becoming a professional cricketer. Despite him being picked by three-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians, the couple didn’t expect their 20-year old son to play in the tournament’s season opener. To watch him not just play the match but also pick up the big wicket of former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, was a priceless moment.

18:39(IST)RCB, who have won only one game so far, will be looking to improve the numbers on that count when they take on the defending champions Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. Of course, all eyes will be on Kohli and AB de Villiers in their batting line up. But, another person who will be in spotlight when it comes to this match and this duo is Mumbai Indians bowler Krunal Pandya. He has managed to dismiss the dangerous de Villiers the last four times the two sides have played each other. In those four innings, in the last two years, AB has scored 115 runs against Mumbai, and only 33 against Krunal himself.

18:35(IST)When Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers get together and bat for the same team, there is no two ways about the fact that the opposition bowlers are rather frightened by the prospect of both firing on all cylinders together. The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been heavily dependent on the combination of Kohli and de Villiers for quite some time now, and this season has been no different. Unfortunately it has not paid rich dividends as yet, even though the duo together have scored almost half the runs so far this season. AB is the highest run getter for them yet with 121, while Kohli has managed 109 till now.

18:30(IST)Mumbai Indians are yet to open their account in this edition of the Indian Premier League and they now face the dangerous Royal Challengers Bangalore in what is expected to be a thriller at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. And RCB talisman AB de Villiers has promised the fans that Virat Kohli and boys will win this one. Taking to Twitter, RCB posted a video which read: “You can see the determination in @ABdeVilliers17 eyes. The boys will be putting in their 100% for today’s match! #MIvRCB #PlayBold #RCB” Speaking in the video, AB de Villiers said: “We are playing Mumbai Indians tonight. Gary Kirsten is standing right behind the camera telling me what to say. We are very excited and all RCB fans keep an eye on us, we are going to win this game.”

18:23(IST)Indian opening batsman and local boy Rohit Sharma has been trying his luck at different positions in the batting order too as he stepped down the line-up to bat at number four in the previous game. The right hander though has totaled only 44 runs so far. That would understandably put some pressure on the middle order where Hardik Pandya and West Indian Keiron Pollard have also floundered. Both are fearsome big hitting batsmen, but in the first three games this year, have totally put together 52 runs. For the defending champions, there though has been one batsman, who has made a mark. Suryakumar Yadav has seized his chance and amassed 124 runs with one half century, while his senior colleagues found the going difficult. Fortunately for the Mumbai Indians, they have recovered and gone onto have successful seasons previously. But unless the tide is turned soon, that tradition is in danger.

18:18(IST)The defending champions in the IPL, Mumbai Indians have begun their season in a horrible manner as they have lost all three of their opening games and are under tremendous pressure going into the fourth game against the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Mumbai Indians batting line-up, boasts of some pretty big names in the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya. Unfortunately, they are yet to live up to their expectations this season. The troika together have managed to score only 96 runs amongst them, with no half centuries to boast of.

18:07(IST)Bangalore, on the other hand, have a mixed start to the tournament, losing the opening game to Kolkata Knight Riders but bouncing back in style to outplay Kings XI Punjab at home and then losing a high-scoring game to Rajasthan Royals at home on Sunday. So, to register their second win, Bangalore need to set their bowling combinations right as, apart from leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, no other bowlers could rose to the occasion. The batting department seemed solid with the likes of skipper Virat Kohli, Brendon McCullum, and AB de Villiers. So if they perform as per the expectations, fans could witness another high-scoring game.

17:59(IST)Currently at the bottom of the points table, Mumbai lost all the three matches played. First, against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the season opener and then to Sunrisers Hyderabad and in the previous outing, Mumbai lost to Delhi Daredevils. In the upcoming match, they would like to turn the tables around with some good performance towards the end as Mumbai lost the two of its encounters in the last over. The batting department of the hosts failed in the first two games, and when they clicked bowlers lost the control. So in order to change their fortunes in the upcoming match, Rohit Sharma-led side will have to take care to the small things on the ground.

17:54(IST)Hello and welcome to the LIVE coverage of the game between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. PREVIEW MI vs RCB: Winless Mumbai Indians will pit their might against formidable Royal Challengers Bangalore in an adrenaline-charged Indian Premier League match on Tuesday. Both teams, with a plethora of explosive batsmen, are yet to find their feet in the T20 league and would be keen to gather some momentum with a victory here at the Wankhede Stadium. If MI have their problems to sort out, having lost at the death in all three games so far, RCB too have their own shortcomings to address with only one win in three games under their belt. Both the games held here so far have gone down to the wire and on both occasions MI have had their chances to go across the line and fumbled on the doorstep against Chennai Super Kings in the season opener and then Delhi Daredevils.
In between they had also lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first away game of the season, so that the three-time champions led by Rohit Sharma are placed at the bottom of the eight-team table. MI had been in worse situations before recovering poise to become eventual champions. RCB started off on the losing note away from home to Kolkata Knight Riders, brought their campaign on track immediately with a convincing victory over Kings XI Punjab at home and then lost a high-scoring game to Rajasthan Royals at home.
RCB’s bowlers, especially Umesh Yadav who had broken the back of KXIP innings with a three-wicket burst in one over, went for plenty against the Royals who set up the highest total so far of the season, 217, by riding on Sanju Samson’s blistering 45-ball 92 not out. After the pace trio’s profligacy RCB need to set right their bowling woes as MI possess a strong batting line up that threatened to score over 200 in their previous game before the Daredevils bowlers restricted them below that threshold. Barring leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, who bowled brilliantly to grab 2 for 22, the other RCB bowlers had an off day against the Royals. But on the positive side was the encouraging return to form of captain Virat Kohli who struck a quick-fire 57.

With a batting line-up boasting of Brendon McCullum, Kohli and AB de Villiers, no target will look insurmountable for the visitors, and three-time champions MI will be aware of this. MI’s batting, on the other hand, failed to rocket off in the first two games and when it clicked the bowlers lost the plot. The move to promote local guy Suryakumar Yadav has been a success but their best batsman, skipper Rohit, is yet to make a big contribution with the bat. The Pandya brothers Hardik and Krunal along with giant West Indian Kieron Pollard too have not made big impacts in the first three games.

Rookie leg spinner Mayank Markhande has been their most successful bowler with good economy rate along with Mustafizur Rehman, but Jasprit Bumrah has also not lived up to his tag of the world’s best white ball bowler. MI have replaced injured Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins with New Zealander Adam Milne and will be looking up to a comprehensive combined show to avoid a fourth straight defeat of the season.
